Blood Transfusion Section at The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University was established in January 4 ,1954 .After more than 60 years of development ,The Blood Transfusion Section is now a clinical department that integrating blood supply ,teaching ,and scientific research .The mission of our unit including blood storage ,match ,blood distribution ,consultation for blood use in clinic and supervision for adverse reaction of blood transfusion ,as well as guarantee the blood safety in medical services .According to national laws and regulations ,the Blood Transfusion Department is responsible for the plan report and blood storage of the hospital's clinical blood use ,the evaluation of the efficacy and risk of the blood transfusion ,as well as the test ,monitoring and evaluation of the blood transfusion reaction .Under the leadership of Clinical Blood Management Committee ,our section also is responsible for the management ,guidance training and supervision of the hospital's blood use in clinic .

The existing staff of our section is 14,including 1 chief technician ,6 deputy chief technicians and 7 technicians .5 of them have gained master's degrees in medicine and 9 have bachelor degrees .10 of them are under 40 years old.They are high quality staffs with high titles and academic qualifications ,all these help form a well-structured team .     

 The Blood Transfusion Dept have sample processing area ,blood storage room ,serology laboratory and blood distribution room ,etc. The main medical instruments we have include ,but not limited to :Erytra ,a fully automated analyzer with high processing capacity for blood grouping and cross matching .Hamilton ,a fully automated analyzer for blood grouping .Ortho AutoVue Innova ,a automated machine with analytic system for blood group and match .13 Blood Bank Refrigerators ,2 Samples Refrigerators ,1 Reagent Refrigerator ,5 Serifuges ,1 Platelet Constant Temperature Shaking Machine ,2 Large-scale Low Speed Centrifuges ,and 2 centrifuges for Beso blood bank only .Our department has implemented informationalized management system of blood ,which allowed us achieve a 24-h continuous temperature monitoring for blood bank .we also building a green channel and perfecting contingency plan ,so we can meet the need of blood use in clinical surgery ,treatment and rescue at the whole hospital .The blood components we provide including :suspended RBC ,washed RBC ,frozen plasma ,single donor platelet and cryoprecipitate blood coagulation factor .We have actively promoting component infusion ,and the rate of blood component infusion has reached by 99.9% at the hospital .Moreover ,we are very involved in the hospital-wide discussion of difficult cases and the clinical consultation of blood transfusion cases ,to guide and supervising the rational use of blood in clinic .Regard to clinical trial ,we have carried out Blood Grouping Serology Experiments ,the following are some currently experiments within our division :Transfusion Compatibility Testing ,Difficult Blood Grouping Identification ,Difficult Matching ,Experimental diagnosis of Hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) ,Blood Group Antibody Titration for couples ,Coomb's experiment and the Titre of the Blood Group Antibody .Our section also responsible for clinical teaching for students who major in Clinical Medicine ,Medical Examination ,Sanitary Inspection and for the study of blood transfusion technology for advanced students.The main research direction of The Blood Transfusion Dept are the immunological study of ineffective platelet infusion ,and application of experimental diagnostic method of HDN .In resent years , great progress has been made in scientific research ,more than 9 articles were published in the nationally medical journal ,and won 2 Hebei Province Science and Teaching Progress Award .
