The clinical laboratory of the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University was founded on January 4, 1952, which is one of the earliest clinical laboratory departments in China. At present, it is a clinical laboratory integrating teaching, scientific research and experimental diagnosis with the most complete testing projects, the most advanced equipment, the most advanced inspectors and the largest amount of test specimens in Hebei province. It is the location of standard laboratory of Hebei Clinical Laboratory Center, Hebei Medical University laboratory department and Hebei traditional Chinese medicine research laboratory.

Clinical biochemistry, clinical hematology, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, emergency and molecular biology are all set up in the clinical laboratory. Currently, there are 81 employees, including 5 chief inspectors and 18 deputy chief inspectors. There were 6 doctors, 18 masters and 51 inspectors above bachelor’s degree, accounting for 79.6%. There were 33 inspectors under 45 years old, accounting for 73%. The staff have high quality, professional title and educational level and reasonable structure. Under the leadership of Li Yongjun, the director of the clinical laboratory, with the guidance of the scientific training of being rational, true-seeking, innovative and harmonious, with the attitude of high quality, high efficiency and responsible work, the laboratory serves every patient with enthusiasm.

The equipment of Clinical laboratory are all the international advanced instruments and equipment, at present it can conduct 445 test projects, the annual inspection number is more than 2 million times, more than 95% of the test methodology reached domestic advanced level, the qualified rate of the clinical laboratory room quality evaluation of the ministry of health  every  year is 100%, with excellent quality, excellent service, our department has comprehensive inspection capacity in leading level in the province. The bone marrow morphological examination and cytochemical staining technology for clinical hematology examination is a laboratory capable of screening hemophilia and hereditary coagulation factor defects. It is responsible for the consultation of difficult bone marrow cytology in Hebei province and the training of provincial blood cytology examination personnel. Clinical microbiology laboratory is the bacterial drug resistance monitoring units designated by the ministry of health, bacterial drug resistance monitoring network organization units in Hebei province, each year it can provide pathogenic microorganisms trend for the province and consulting services for the rational use of antibiotics, with automatic bacteria identification of susceptibility analyzer, automatic blood culture instrument, G test detector and other advanced equipment. Clinical biochemistry laboratory has the international advanced Cobas 8000 automatic biochemical analyzer and InterLab automatic electrophoresis instrument, which can detect nearly 100 kinds of clinical biochemical indicators. Clinical immunology test professional with Roche E170 electrochemical luminescence analyzer and the United States Beckman DX800 chemiluminescence analyzer, the United States Beckman Immage800 special protein analyzer, can detect hepatitis a, hepatitis b, C, d liver, hepatitis, HIV virus antibody, all kinds of immunoglobulin, complement, special protein, such as c-reactive protein, all kinds of hormone and endocrine detection of the project, at the same time it can provide a wide range of respiratory virus antibody detection and various kinds of autoantibodies detection, detection of the department is at the domestic leading level.

Clinical examination is a window unit of the laboratory department. It takes the lead in implementing a number of high quality and convenient services such as the station-to-station queuing system and real-time release of test results in our province. The test report time tends to be the emergency report time, which greatly shortens the waiting time of outpatients and is well received by the majority of patients. Emergency inspection is clinical inspection green channel, with Roche automatic biochemical analyzer two, Roche Cobas 6000 and Beckman chemiluminescence analysis table, Beckman blood cell analyzer, two Beckman automatic blood coagulation analyzer, urine routine two each one automatic analyzer, actively carry out rapid detection of heart disease and infectious diseases. Our department includes the preoperative four tests, myocardial infarction test, malaria parasite test in the emergency inspection category.  Our rapid diagnosis has saved time for emergency patients and meet the need of emergency surgery. With instant test results, test scale is in the domestic leading level.

The Clinical Laboratory has always paid attention to the construction of talent echelon, innovation and clinical communication, and actively carried out new projects and new technologies. 10-20 new testing projects are added every year, and more attention is paid to the cultivation of scientific research ability. Nearly five years, clinical laboratory has published 200 academic theses, won four Hebei science and technology progress prizes, won one third prize at the Chinese academy of traditional Chinese and western medicine combined, won twelve first prizes in Hebei medical science, now bear three projects of ministry of science and technology and the ministry of health, sixteen key self-help projects in Hebei province, one outstanding-projects-funded project of students studying abroad are introduced. There are 7 Master’s tutors and 18 Master students.

While continuing to improve quality management, laboratory biological safety and quality services, the Clinical Laboratory actively creates a warm and positive cultural environment for employees and carries out a variety of harmonious and healthy spare time activities.
