As the main research unit of the national “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” for severe birth defects screening and standardized diagnosis and treatment, we are undertaking the diagnosis and treatment of suspected and critically ill children from birth to 18 years old in Hebei Province and even across the country.

Pediatric general surgery group achieved outstanding results in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal surgical diseases such as congenital choledochal cyst, congenital biliary atresia, portal hypertension, complicated anorectal malformation, congenital megacolon, sigmoid colon stagnation, duodenal stagnation, etc. Our laparoscopic technology is leading China.

Neonatal surgical disease group mainly treats congenital malformations of various birth structural abnormalities, including esophageal atresia, intestinal atresia, congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, congenital duodenal obstruction, meconium peritonitis, intestinal duplication, anal atresia, abdominal fissure, Umbilical bulging, body malformations and various tumors that occur in the embryonic stage. In recent years, we have taken the lead in screening and diagnosis and treatment of congenital malformations in Hebei Province, and cooperated with obstetric experts to conduct prenatal counseling for congenital malformations and established a green channel for severe malformation and surgical treatment of delivery rooms.

Pediatric oncology group mainly treats benign and malignant tumors in various parts, especially solid tumors in children, including neuroblastoma, teratoma, nephroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, pancreatic tumor, malignant lymphoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, fibrosarcoma, Ovarian tumors, testicular tumors, and various body surface tumors such as hemangiomas, lymphangiomas.

Pediatric thoracic surgery group mainly treats congenital esophageal atresia, hernia, esophageal hiatus hernia, sputum Pengsheng, funnel chest, lung and mediastinal tumors, and chest infections (purulent chest).

Pediatric orthopedic surgery group mainly treats congenital muscle torticollis, multi-finger (toe) and finger (toe) deformity, various scar plastic surgery, umbilical hernia, inguinal hernia, hydrocele, phimosis, prepuce and cryptorchidism.

In addition, we treat a variety of soft tissue infections, trauma (such as car accidents, falls).

The Department of Pediatric Surgery of the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University is a key specialty of clinical medicine in Hebei Province and a key medical subject of the Health Protection Committee of Hebei Province. Founded in 1962 by Professor Li Zhendong, a famous expert in pediatric surgery in China, through the continuous efforts of several generations of discipline leaders such as Zhang Daorong, Niu Aiguo and Li Suolin, it has become a professional discipline with certain influence at home and abroad. It is a national congenital structural malformation screening and The rescue demonstration base and the Pediatric Surgery Disease Treatment and Treatment Center of Hebei Province.

At present, there are 58 beds and 38 medical staff, including 2 professors, doctoral tutors, 3 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, 1 associate researcher, 5 attending physicians and 4 physicians, 1 chief nurse, 1 deputy director nurse, 6 supervisors, 8 senior nurses, 5 nurses in our department. One provincial excellent expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council, one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Hebei Province, and one young and middle-aged backbone teacher in colleges and universities. The academic leader has served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Pediatric Surgery Society of the Chinese Medical Association and the chairman of the Hebei Provincial Pediatric Surgery Branch. Many people served as standing editors or editors of academic journals such as Chinese Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Chinese Journal of General Surgery, Journal of Clinical Pediatric Surgery, Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Journal of Hebei Medical University or member of each professional group of the pediatric surgery branch. Professor Li Suolin, the current director of the department, is the leading person of the key disciplines of surgery in Hebei Province, the director of the surgical endoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology training base of the National Health Protection Committee, the deputy director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Committee of the Chinese Research Hospital Association, and the team leader of Endoscopic surgery branch of Pediatric Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association.

Since its establishment more than 50 years ago, we have made great achievements in medicine, teaching and research. We made great contributions to the development of pediatric surgery in Hebei Province and even the whole country. We have diagnosed and treated more than 200,000 pediatric surgical diseases.With the comprehensive liberalization of the national second-child policy, we worked with multi-departments carried out prenatal screening and post-natal treatment on congenital structural malformations. We trained more than 500 pediatric specialists and 150 pediatric surgeons and graduate students. We undertaken more than 10 research projects at the national and provincial levels, published nearly 300 papers, published 40 monographs, and obtained 25 scientific research results. A number of clinical technology innovations were promoted and applied at home and abroad. In 1981, peritoneal sling suspension was used first time to treat severe rectal prolapse. In 1985, the first domestic chest and abdomen malformation was successfully performed. In 1992, the successful implementation of mid-hepatectomy to treat hepatoblastoma. More than 80 kinds of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery were carried out since 2001. A variety of complex operations such as laparoscopic assisted high anal atresia, stage I angioplasty, choledochal cyst radical surgery, severe hernia repair, subtotal colectomy Surgery, neonatal duodenal obstruction surgery, umbilical single incision laparoscopic surgery have been carried out.

At present, we established good cooperative relations and academic exchanges with Pediatric Surgery of the University of Hong Kong. Our treatment capacity and medical technology are improved greatly. And we are connecting with the international community.
