The Neurology major at the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University is the only national key clinical specialty of neurology in Northern China. Hebei Institute of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Hebei Collaborative Innovation Center for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, the Key Laboratory of Neurology in Hebei Province，the excellent laboratory co-established by province and ministry, and a laboratory for vascular homeostasis in Hebei Province are established here. This major is the stroke prevention and control base of National Health and Family Planning Commission, the Senior Stroke Center of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the Comprehensive Stroke Center and Alliance Unit  of China Stroke Association, the only “Yan Zhao Special Position” of the Hebei Health System, characteristic strong discipline group of Hebei Province, the director unit of Hebei Neurology Quality Control Center, and the Brain Death Evaluation Center of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, which is the only certified unit in Hebei Province. it also has a national clinical pharmacology research base and Hebei clinical testing center. It was ranked ninth in the 2017 Scientific Impact of Chinese Hospitals in Neurology issued by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

   The major possesses one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one Yanzhao Scholar, a third batch of high-end talents of Hebei Province, and several provical excellent experts. Many professors act as standing director of the Chinese Stroke Association, director chairman of the Chinese Society of Neurology Committee of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, standing committee member of Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, the Vice Chairman of the Neuroimmunology Branch of the Chinese Society of Immunology,  the Standing Committee Member of Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Association and so on.

There are 8 doctoral tutors in the department that has undertaken 32 projects in the past five years. Among the projects, 11 are national-level and have won 13 provincial-level awards, which have published 71 SCI paper. This major has established a high-quality clinical data database and biological sample database, including a high-risk population screening resource pool, a muscle pathology resource pool, a cerebrospinal fluid cytology resource pool, a refractory epilepsy database, a motor neuron disease sample library, and a demyelinating disease sample database. We have extensive operational experience to carry out treatment on  cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases (motor neuron disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia), nervous system immune diseases, epilepsy and sleep disorders, peripheral and neuromuscular diseases, central nervous system infection Diseases, neurological interventions, neurological critical illness, mental and psychological diseases, Chinese and Western medicine combined neurology and many other disciplines, we will continue to refine and strive for excellence, create high-quality service, and make the discipline construction to a higher level.
