Pro. Liu Zhenhua, Chinese famous cardiovascular surgery specialist and founder of cardiovascular surgery in Hebei, presided over the creation of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in 1956. Academic Conference on cardiovascular surgery was held in our hospital in 1961 for the first time nationwide. We also hosted the second session of National Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases. We are national key clinical specialty, provincial key subject and cardiac transplantation unit recognized by the Ministry of Health. Our healing techniques for difficult and complicated cases including complexity of congenital heart disease (transposition of the great arteries, etc.), rheumatic heart disease(three valve replacement), Marfan's Syndrome, artificial blood vessel replacement for dissecting aneurysm and coronary artery bypass grafting have stridden into national advanced ranks. New techniques and programs we developed recent years-such as total thoracoscopic heart operation，onestop Hybrid Therapy，off pump coronary artery bypass surgery under non extracorporeal circulation，minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and heart transplant-are in the leading position in Hebei province and advanced level in China.
Currently we have 4 sub specialties, namely adult cardiac vascular surgery, pediatric cardiac vascular surgery, large vascular direction and minimally invasive surgery. We published hundred papers recent years, including 47 on core periodicals, 10 on overseas key academic publications. Recent three years, we shouldered 2 important subjects under Ministry of Science and Technology and 5 provincial subjects.
There are 50 authorized beds in our department, but actual open beds are 70. 14 ICU beds, 3 professional operation rooms including one hybrid operation room are set here. Annual cardiac vascular surgery patients are over 1000. By 2015, we did over 20 thousand all kinds o f heart operations and our t otal success rate up to 99%.
