Professor Zhang graduated from the department of stomatology of Hebei Medical University in 1991 and obtained his master's degree in 1997. From 2001 to 2006, he studied in Matsumoto Dental University and Shinshu University in Japan and obtained his doctor's degree.

In 2009, Professor Zhang studied in the special diagnosis department of Peking University Stomatological Hospital In 2012, he joined the China-India medical team to visit India. From 2013 to 2014, he visited and studied in the university of Minnesota.

Professor Zhang has been awarded "outstanding doctor of the hospital" for many times, published more than 40 professional papers in domestic and foreign magazines, and won 2 provincial science and technology progress awards. Currently, he is the chairman of Shijiazhuang Stomatological Medical Association and the chairperson of Hebei Provincial Conservative Dentistry Committee.

Professor Zhang is good at the preservation and treatment of living pulp for various kinds of dental diseases, the treatment of infected root canal by the preservation and retention of affected teeth through the pulp base, the disease of tooth pulp, and the preservation and treatment of infected root canal for the residual root and crown of large area of tooth defects. As well as modern root canal therapy, preservation and repair of residual roots and crowns, treatment of tooth trauma, living pulp preservation, root tip induction, research on the mechanism of pulp injury and healing, healing mechanism of occlusal trauma, soft and hard tissue treatment and repair of periodontal diseases, dental painless and sedation, oral daytime general anaesthesia surgery, dental micro-invasive treatment, etc.
