On December 18th, 1998, the outpatient ward of the Department of Orthopedics was established. Through the joint efforts of all medical staff, it has developed into a mature model of orthopedics which integrates clinical, scientific research and teaching, and combines trauma, joint and spine specialty together. Under the leadership of Professor Ma Wei, the current well-known director and specialist, the growing Department of Orthopedics of the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University has achieved remarkable results in various fields of orthopedics, serving patients with more sophisticated technology.

In recent years, our department of orthopedics has made new progress in the fields of clinic, teaching and scientific research, while pursuing the concept of people oriented and aiming at the benefit of patients. At present, the department of Orthopedics has carried out the treatment of cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, thoracolumbar vertebral compression fracture, knee joint disease, meniscus injury surgery and hip and knee arthroplasty, limb fracture biological fixation, vascular and tissue defect repair of large area and fracture replantation of limbs (finger) with satisfactory results.

More than 30 papers have been published in the whole department. Scientific researchers are composed of young and old doctors and masters. The department made in-depth research on clinical key issues, surrounding the fracture combined with traumatic brain injury, and now the total scientific research results are composed of a number of interrelated research results.

Currently, our department has a C-arm X-ray machine, arthroscopy, and a complete orthopedic surgical power system, which can complete various types of orthopedic surgery.
