As a department with a long history ,the department of ophthalmology is  one of the earliest unit was established at the hospital ,as well as a professional team that full of vitality. As the first head of the department ,the famous ophthalmologists professor Liang Shujin and professor Liao Jusheng have carried out a pioneering operation to fluorescein fundus angiography in China ,which won the first prize of science and technology awarded by the Ministry of Health in 1980 .In 1996 ,eye disease research center for prevention and treatment was established ,and our department have been approved as the provincial medical key discipline in 2011 and the national clinical key specialty in 2012 .As a key development department ,we have ranking highest on the number of outpatient and inpatient ,the annual volume of outpatient and emergency visits reached by 11 thousand and more than 4 thousand hospitalized patients per year .in addition ,we have completed various kinds of ophthalmic surgery more than 8000 cases ,therefore ,our general skill and techniques lead the field in the treatment of eye diseases in Hebei Province and even the North China .

Regard to education and teaching ,our department is one of the earliest granting unit for Master's degree and PhD ,which is both key medical subject in Hebei and key subject of Hebei provincial Education Commission .Over the past 100 years ,after tireless efforts of several generations of therapists ,the department of ophthalmology have enjoy a good reputation in the North China because we have always led the way in medical care ,training ,scientific research for eye disorders and also is key training base for postgraduate in Hebei Province .

The hospital attaches great importance to our dept ,thus , we have set up a clinical management group ,the director of the hospital was in charged and another director who in charge of medical care as the deputy team leader .The group organizing meetings on a regular basis to achieve the following objectives :

Studying the direction for the development of the ophthalmology , making relevant support policy ,supervising the construction process of specialty ,debriefing the development report at any time .In addition ,we will take a measures to strengthen the development of the discipline ,such as expanding investment ,increasing talent training and setting an effective incentive mechanism ,all these can move the department to the track of a virtuous circle and maintain an upward trend .

After nearly 100 years of construction and development ,our department have enjoyed the advantage of talent resources ,now we have 37doctors ， 55 nurses and 8 technicians ,18 of which are chief physician and professors ,9 of which are deputy chief physician and associate professor .Among them ,there are 1 doctoral tutors ,14 Master's tutors ,and 14 people had got PhD .With these talents ,we have formed an excellent ophthalmologist team that have keep a leading position in He bei and China . The ophthalmological unit have 90 beds ,and the following parts we have set : vitreoretinal surgery ,internal medicine for people who have a cataract ,glaucoma and fundus ,as well as sub-speciality outpatient clinics and wards for patient who suffers oblique amblyopia ,orbital and plastic surgery ,eye tumor ,corneal and ocular surface disease uveitis ,eye traumas ,etc .Meanwhile ,we have equipped  with the FFA  Room ,which made the Retinal fluorescein angiography and Choroidal fluorescein angiography are available .And B ultrasound room, UBM examining room ,Perimetry Testing Room ,OCT Examining Room ,Corneal Endothelium Microscope Room and Pathology Laboratory for Ophthalmology .The advanced equipments we introduced include ,but are not limited to :IOL master ,contrast sensitivity instrument , wavefront  aberrations analyzer ,Excimer Laser ,etc－all these enable us to make various kinds of diagnosis ,treatment and research of eye diseases . 

With a cost of 50 million RMB ,the ophthalmic building has already been put into use ,which have 3 inpatient wards ,6 separate ORs ,and the total area covers 5860 square meters .This well-equipped building was not only featured with clinical medicine ,training and research also is an advanced eye center that is home to outstanding professionals ,leading-edge technology and equipments ,therefore ,we can provide top-notch medical care to patients who suffer eye diseases .
